Adorning the walls of the entrance to the General Office are a pair of Chinese couplets:
树立 栋 梁 木
群 英 桃 李 春
Loosely translated, it means that the school is built on a strong and reliable foundation, one that ably serves students who are happy to acquire knowledge and values from. As it approaches its 93rd year, since inception, in 2019, I believe that Shuqun Primary School has done justice to what is alluded to in the couplets.
I am honoured to have been appointed Principal of the school, one that is steeped in tradition but has remained relevant to the times. Over the years, Shuqun Primary School has grown from strength to strength in not only providing holistic education to its students but also making its mark as a contributing member of the Jurong West community. Credit definitely goes to the past leadership teams and staff who have been unstinting in their efforts to realise the star in every Shuqunite.
Moving forward, I aim to continue the sterling work done by my predecessors. Whilst we will continue our efforts in building strong fundamentals in values, literacy and numeracy in our students, we will endeavour to introduce to them other pathways to success. By helping our students to explore and discover their personal talents and interests, we stand them in better stead to be contributing members of community, leveraging on their individual strengths for the benefit of society. I look forward to working closely with the various stakeholders of the school to realise the potential that resides in both our students and members of staff.
In partnership with you,
Mrs Sara de Souza
