School Rules
- Students who are Singapore citizens must sing the National Anthem and take the Pledge. Students will take the Pledge with the right fist placed over the heart.
- Students are to wear the prescribed school uniform and modification to the uniform is not allowed. Male students must be clean-shaven and neat in appearance.
- Students must adhere to the Expected Shuqunite Appearance and Behaviour.
- Students must be proud of and be loyal to the school and nation.
- Students must be respectful and courteous.
- Students must be punctual at all times.
- Students must be honest, truthful and obedient always.
- Students must be neatly and appropriately attired.
- Students must keep the school clean.
- Students must queue when necessary.
- Students must speak softly and maintain silence when required to do so.
- Students must stay at home when they are unwell.
- Students must take good care of all common and public property.
- Students are not allowed to have in their possession any weapon. They are also not allowed to bring any weapon-like item which can be used or intended to be used to cause harm to others.
- Students are not allowed to bring or use mobile phones or any other devices that can capture video, images and/or make phone calls.
Expected Shuqunite Appearance
Uniform
- The uniform must be well-ironed, clean and free from stains and unpleasant odour.
- The uniform must be well-fitted.
- T-shirt should be tucked in at all times.
- Girls’ skirt length should not be more than 4 cm above the back of the knee.
- Name tags must be sewn on all school shirts, blouses and PE T-shirt.
- School uniform : one finger above the pocket for boys, one finger above school crest for girls.
- PE T-shirt : one finger above the school crest.
- All upper primary students must wear the school tie every Wednesday.
Footwear
- Only plain white school shoes and white socks are allowed.
- Socks must fully cover the ankles and retain their elasticity.
- School shoes and socks should be kept white and clean at all times.
- Shoes/Socks with stark / colourful logos are not allowed.
Accessories
- No bracelets, bangles, nose studs, necklaces or other accessories are permitted.
Girls
- Only plain black hair clips and hair bands are allowed.
- Fanciful hair clips and hair bands are not to be used.
- Only plain gold or silver ear-studs are allowed.
Boys’ Hair
- Hair length must be kept short above the shirt collar and ears at all times.
- Styling of hair with extensive gel or similar products is not allowed.
- Fringes must be kept above eyebrows.
- Haircuts with distinctive style lines across hair (or any other styles deemed unacceptable by the school discipline committee) are not allowed.
Girls’ Hair
- Fringes must be kept above eyebrows or pinned up neatly with black pins or clips..
- Hair length touching the end of the blouse collar must be tied up neatly pony in a ponytail(s).
- Ponytail(s) exceeding shoulders must be plaited.
- Only black hair accessories are allowed.
- Fancy hairstyle or any other style deemed unacceptable by the school discipline committee are not allowed.
Expected Shuqunite Behaviour
Attendance
- Students must be punctual for all school activities
- Students are not allowed to leave the school during school hours, without permission from the teachers, vice-principals or principal.
- Students who are taken home during school hours must be signed out at the General Office by their parent/guardian.
- If a student is absent from school, a medical certificate must be presented to the Form Teacher. Students who are absent for any major examination must be produce a medical certificate to cover the period of absence.
- Students are not allowed to take any leave of absence during term time to travel abroad for holiday.
Safety and Security
- Students are not allowed to remain in the classroom during assembly and recess unless they are supervised by the teacher.
- Mobile phones are not allowed to be brought in or used in school.
- Students may play in the designated areas (school field, ISH ground level, and playground) during their recess and after school breaks.
- Seek shelter immediately and remain indoors when lightning warning blinker lights are switched on.
- Students with asthmatic conditions should have their prescribed reliever medicine with them at all times.
- For PE and CCAs that involve strenuous or outdoor activities, students should take part only if they are well. Highlight any medical condition to the teacher-in-charge or instructor.
- During hazy conditions, when the air quality is in the unhealthy range (i.e. 24-hour PSI at 101-200, or 1-hour PM2.5 at 56-150), students with pre-existing lung or heart conditions or who are unwell should inform the instructor or teacher-in-charge of the PE/CCA/outdoor activity, and will be exempted.
- When students hear the fire alarm, they are to listen for an announcement. They should follow the instructions of the teacher, and walk briskly to the assembly area at the school field.
